Stuff My Stocking - Day 3 - Pigma Pens

Yesterday we heard from many of you and love that you love our Stuff My Stocking offers! This could become one of those favorite traditions that mark the holiday season. I spent a good part of my day on phone calls and emails from many happy customers, and the list just keeps growing! The rotary blade and aurifil thread offers are now history, and we are moving on to another great deal:

Day 3
Pigma Pen 6 Pack

This pack normally sells for $16.99, but today only you can add it to your stocking for $12.74 (25% off).

The pack contains a great assortment of primary colors plus black and brown, useful in so many ways in our quilting and crafting. The first thing that comes to my mind is using these for signatures and labels on fabric, since the ink is permanent when heat set. The embroiderers that I know love these fine tip pens for tracing line designs onto fabric, leaving a line that is visible but fine enough to be covered by stitches. I keep a pigma pen right beside my machine because I use it whenever I do bindings -- I mark my cutting lines when I am making the last seam to join the 2 ends of the binding strips. The little ink line makes an accurate marker because it isn't fuzzy or blobby or fat. I also have been using some pigma pens for a little artistic doodling called Zentangles. Scrapbookers and paper crafters make use of pigma pens in many ways, too, but since I won't let myself go near those aisles in the craft stores for fear of disappearing into the Bermuda Triangle of crafting, those uses will remain a mystery to me!

Again, to take advantage of this offer do one of these things:

  • email the store (info@bearpatchquilting.com) and if you haven't already signed up for our email list please do so. Just pop over to our website homepage and register your email address in the box in the middle of the page. Then you will automatically get an email each day with the daily special. You can always unsubscribe if you choose.
  • call the store (651-429-1039) during business hours: Mon-Thurs 9-9, Fri-Sat 9-5, Sun 12-4
  • best of all, come into the store! we have a great display of Christmas project and gift ideas, lots of kits for many of our window display items. Have a cup of coffee or tea, enjoy our Christmas carols, and have a chat!

So many good things for you! And if you are anywhere near the store today, Saturday, plan to stop in sometime between 11 and 1 while the Shop Girls are doing a live radio broadcast on 107.1!

Stuff My Stocking - Day 2 - Thread

We are already into Day 2 of our 12 Days of Christmas. And due to some technical difficulties yesterday, we are extending our Day 1 offer through today, as well! We discovered that we had sent out 2 email messages within 24 hours (due to time zone details) and the second message was viewed as spam in some inboxes. Details, details! So if that applies to you, you can thank us for testing your spam filtration system because now you know that it works!

Now back to the fun! Day 2 Deal--
Aurifil thread!!

This really is your lucky day, because we rarely offer a discount on this product! We love our Aurifil thread, if you haven't already tried it, you need to! Trust me on this. Here are the reasons I like my Aurifil:
  • low lint
  • that means easy on your machine and less cleaning
  • 40 wt for everyday sewing is fine but strong
  • lower price per yard than other brands we carry
  • lots of yards on those spools, when I finish one it is like a badge of honor. Save those empties to show off to your friends!
  • lots of yards on your bobbin means less rewinding
  • removeable end cap holds the thread tail in place so my thread drawer stays a little neater
  • the Aurifil spokesman, Alex, is easy on the eyes. And Italian. We all know what that means!
Enough! Time to stuff your stocking! You will get 3 spools for the price of 2, which is $21. We will pick 3 of the most commonly used "piecing colors" for you, and you will be a happy quilter! Just contact us and tell us to "Stuff My Stocking". We will hold all of your "Stocking Stuff" until the end of our 12 Days of Christmas offers and enter one total charge to the credit card number that we will ask you for with your first order. Quantities may be limited on some items, just sayin', you don't want to dilly-dally on these offers. You can come into the store after Day 12 to pick up your lovely gift bag of items. Don't live nearby? We will be happy to ship to you, adding only the cost of postage. What a wonderful package to find on your doorstep!

To get this Aurifil offer, valid only today, you need to act quickly! Take your pick:
  1. email the store (info@bearpatchquilting.com) and if you haven't already signed up for our email list please try it out by popping over to our website homepage and register your email address in the box in the middle of the page. You can always unsubscribe if you choose.

Scrub-a-dub-dub

We love to try new products so we can honestly tell you, our customer, what our experience is. We have a new laundry soap from Mary Ellen's Products on the shelf -- Best Wash for Precious Fabrics. We have loved using their Best Press for our pressing and ironing. So we sent Debbie home on a mission to test it out in her own washing machine. When we had performed the sniff test it seemed like a very concentrated lavender scent, and we were leery that it would be too scented for the wash. But Debbie came back with the proof that it only left a faint scent on the clothing that was washed. The information below is from the product website:

Mary Ellen's Best Wash is the safest stain removing laundry detergent! Best Wash is a tested formula that has been proven to be the safest cleaner and stain remover in the textile industry.

  • Neutral pH
  • No bleach, caustics or phosphates
  • Low-sudsing
  • Safe for virtually every fabric

This high efficiency laundry detergent and safe stain remover removes ink, food, blood, grease, and most mystery stains.

  • Use a capful for hand washing
  • 2 ounces for all washing machines

Debbie used it on her sheets and liked the results. She did use slightly less than the 2 oz. recommended, she felt that was adequate. It retails for $13.99 for the 16 oz. container. You might want to try it out on some of your delicate or precious fabric. But then, isn't it all precious?

New Item

We found a new type of rick rack when we were cruising the aisles of Quilt Market. It is not the traditional woven rick rack, it looks and feels more like grosgrain ribbon.

We were intrigued, so of course, we had to purchase a selection of colors! It is about 1" wide, and will be fun to use in some of the patterns calling for a special trim. I know of one upcoming class that will use rick rack, and with this many colors, there is probably one to fit your style!

Beautiful Batiks

One of our favorites in fabrics are the wonderful batik prints. We have collected some of our quilts using batik fabrics to display in the front window.

We have all of the patterns on-hand or on order, so please look them over. We don't have these exact fabrics on hand, since the nature of printing batiks makes it very difficult, if not impossible, to obtain reprints. Debbie and I saw a very informational video at Quilt Market about the process, and we have asked to have access to it to share with you soon. It brings a whole new appreciation for these one-of-a-kind hand printed and dyed fabrics. But you don't have to go through hours and hours of labor with wax and ink and dye to get beautiful batiks! Just walk in our door and you can admire every color of the rainbow in fine batik fabric, and choose your bolt(s)!

Day 4--The End!

Here's a little re-cap of our shopping trip for Bear Patch--

After ordering some fabric at the Northcott booth, Debbie put the spin on the wheel and came up the big winner with 500 fabric bucks that she can redeem later for something (we're not sure what!). We even got a picture with Bernie Berlin, the owner of Northcott.

And here are some of our fabric selections from Moda--

Papillon by 3 Sisters

Hello Luscious by Basic Grey (that's the name of the fabric, not my name for you!)

Thanks for following along with us on our fun trip to Houston Quilt Market 2011! Back to MN in the AM!
