Made By Hand
Number One concern for many, many people during the winter is THE HANDS! The dry, scaly, cracked, sore, bleeding hands!
The cold, dry air seems to suck the life right out of the skin,
and that is no fun!
Add to that the need/desire/requirement to actually use those hands for any kind of fine work, and the problem just became serious! You know it's getting serious when it interferes with your fun time. I was just yesterday trying to do some English Paper Piecing.
I like to use a very fine thread to sew the pieces together,
like Superior's Bottom Line or WonderFil thread.
So frustrating when it snags on my hands! Yuck!
So let's give ourselves a break, and do the right thing for our skin! Try this:
Mary Ellen's Made By Hand. A hand therapy gel.
Here's what the company says about it--relieves nicks and scratches; soothes swollen, sore hands without greasy residue; softens dry, callused skin.
Mary Ellen says:
Quilters! Now you don't have to suffer for your art!
Made by Hand relieves your sore muscles, nicks and scratches,
and you can get right back to work since it leaves
no greasy residue. It won't stain fabrics or affect your needle grip. Put it to the "snap judgment" test, and you'll see:
it dries so fast, you can snap your fingers right away!
This product is made with white willow bark, a natural,
proven pain reliever that contains salicin,
a natural anti-inflammatory related to aspirin.
Give your hands a break, or if you are someone who loves a quilter, this would be the perfect stocking stuffer!

Extreme Ironing
An excellent idea for improving the life of a quilter--
A lovely new, bright and shiny, fancy pants iron!
The Panasonic 360 Freestyle Cordless Steam Iron!
We have a limited quantity of these on hand, so don't dilly dally if you want one. I have been putting my own precious new iron through the paces the last few days, and I can assure you, it is a keeper! It is a cordless style with tapered points on both ends, something that is not your typical iron. But then, you are not the typical quilter, either, right?!
Because you are special, and you deserve a special iron!
It is easy to handle, heats up well and steams well, and even comes with a handy carrying case. Your new iron is all wrapped up and ready to go with a big bow on top!
Call (651-429-1039), email (info@bearpatchquilting.com) or come in the store!
You won't be sorry!

A Good Time Was Had By All!
Well, we have wrapped up the 2013 "Stuff My Stocking" event--figuratively and literally!
We have started tallying and gathering items for the many people who have ordered our specials over the last 12 days. This is going to take awhile, because you (our wonderful customers) have outdone yourselves! In a few days, we will have some fun facts for you about just what is involved with organizing, running, and carrying out the plans! What a fun project, with such fun people!
We love hearing via phone and email and in person from each and every one of you as you pick and choose what is going to be stuffed into your own stocking!
Hey, we have to be good to ourselves, because then others will be good to us, too! That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Beginning next Tuesday, 12/17, at 9am, you are welcome to pick up your order, or send your favorite elf to do the deed!
All charges will be placed on the credit card that you chose, and a complete itemized receipt will be attached.
Over the next few days, I am going to share some additional ideas for some great gifts for holidays, birthdays, or just because! So stay tuned!
Pam

Day 12--December 13--Point 2 Point Turner
Day 12--December 13--Point 2 Point Turner
Regular price $9.25. Today only $6.94 (25% off).
This new tool might look a little familiar to you. When I first saw it, I thought "hera marker". But then I noticed the pointy end, and realized it was an upgrade to the usual hera marker. So it really is 2 tools in one! I have long used an earlier version of the point turner in so many ways with my sewing and quilting. Don't miss out on this opportunity to get this handy tool at a discount.
It is 7" long, and designed to be comfortable and secure in your hand when using either end.
There are multiple uses for this handy tool, and you can see a short video explaining all of the features if you hop on over to the Checker website. Just below the picture of the tool, there is a little box (View Video) that you can click to open up their video window and become fully educated.
Checker is the distribution company for many of the items in our store, and although they are not a retail website that you can shop from, you can still glean lots of good info about the products that they represent. This little video is just one example of the educational opportunities they present.
Here's how it works:

A new tool for your quilting quiver! Just like our Hunger Games heroine, Katniss Everdeen, we need to keep a fully stocked quiver of quilting tools handy at all times to defend against the evil.....well, maybe that's going a little too far, but you just never know! Anyway, many of us will admit to the allure of a great new gadget or gizmo that turns out to be just what was needed. Just last week, I was working on a new project for an upcoming class. It required an ironed double-fold hem that was 1/2" deep. This would have been the perfect tool for me, instead of using my plastic ruler and keeping my distance from the hot iron.
This tool is heat resistant, so you can press directly on the ruler. It is thin and has accurate measurements, so you can measure, mark and press all at once. Can be used with steam or dry iron, and the non-slip surface helps hold fabrics in place for precise results.
And since we are talking about irons, we are adding on a package of one of our best iron-cleaning products--The Bohin Iron Cleaner--
We know all about cleaning up those nasty irons, because our irons at the store are used and abused on a daily basis! Scorches and fusible gunk and starchy residue all add up to require some help now and then. This little "lipstick" for your precious iron is just the ticket!

Regularly $6.99
Today take 25% off for $5.24 each!
At this price you can afford to gift yourself and your friends more than one! We have had nothing but positive reviews from our customers who have used this new-fangled seam ripper. Yup, I said new-fangled! You maybe know one of my own personal mantras about sewing--Ripping happens, so at least make sure you have the best ripper possible. Do not hesitate to get yourself new rippers now and then, because you might not even realize how dull your old blade has become. And one is never enough, you might as well buy multiples so there is one handy at all times.
The funny looking rubber top on this ripper is designed to help you loosen and gather the pesky little thread ends after you snip the stitches. It might seem like a little thing, but it does matter. We all know that there just is no way to rip out a seam without leaving a bunch of little thread ends behind. So irritating to have to deal with those on top of the fact that you have just had to backtrack in your sewing for a do-over. Give yourself a break and upgrade your ripper today!

Today you can order 3 for the price of 2!
Sale $23.90
We will hand pick our favorite assorted neutral colors for you.
We love our Aurifil thread! It is my thread of choice now. It is very smooth, fine and low lint, which makes my machine happy. Don't let the higher price tag put you off--I figured out the price per yard on Aurifil vs. other standard brands, and it is the same or cheaper than others. There is just a lot more wound on that spool.
Over on the Aurifil website, I found some cute projects for Christmas ornaments with links to their directions. These were contributed last year by quilt designers around the country. Check it out!
Please remember--these 3 Aurifil spools do not qualify for stamps on your Aurifil Thread Club card! If you don't have a Thread Club card, you can start one with the purchase of any regularly priced spool. Once you have purchased 6 spools you get another one FREE!

Day 8--December 9--Bohin Mechanical Pencil plus refill
"Stuff My Stocking"
Day 8--December 9--Bohin Mechanical Pencil
at regular price $12.50
plus FREE refill, a $7.25 value!
These great products come to us all the way from the Bohin company in France. This company has been in business for a long time (178+ years!) and has always worked to produce tools of quality for artistic creations. Needles and pins were some of their earliest products.
Now, lucky for us, they have produced a great fabric marker that isn't quite chalk, not quite pencil, but something else they call "ceramic". Whatever it is, I love it! This makes a fine white line on any fabric, but is perfect for those darker textiles. It is always sharp, because it works like a standard mechanical pencil. The marks can be removed by rubbing, erasing, or washing.
