We have had a full day of Craft Crawlers today, and many rubber gloves bedecked with ruffles are heading for a cleanup job!  

These White Bear Lake matrons (their words, not mine!) are ready for the white glove test!

Retreat Fun!

A great time was had by all at our store retreat in Augusta, Wisconsin. Many projects were started and completed. We had special make-it-take-its each day- fancy ruffled rubber gloves and placemats with our names on them to name a few! Chefs Marilee, Leisl, & Debbie prepared great meals each day- no one left hungry. Can't wait to get together again.

From My Heart Friday- Sewing Quilts for Charities

We had a great time sewing quilts for donation today. Look what we accomplished. We would love to have you join us next time we get together to sew! Call the store for time and dates.

we've been busy!

Debbie and I had the opportunity to get away and get several things pieced together that will be showing up at the store sometime soon.  We had some good quality time with our machines and time to mull over new ideas and projects.  I worked on 3 "bonus projects" that will be included in our new BOM Back Home Again starting soon.  One of them is this little quilt of scrappy squares of the fabrics leftover after piecing the quilt top.  There is still time to sign up!  Debbie completed the next tablerunner-of-the-month, celebrating St. Patrick's Day.  She works hard to find something new and interesting every month, you can find them rotating through a display above the cash register, and purchase/order one or all!  Debbie also stitched together this cute apron, currently on display in our front window featuring all sorts of great apron samples.   At this time of year many of us really need a recharge on our personal battery, and setting aside some time for our sewing helps a lot.  The pleasure of working with needle and thread on beautiful fabric is therapy!

Tomorrow (Saturday, Jan. 10) is another fun day at the store--we do our class sign-up and get everyone in gear for great new quilt projects!  It's always fun to see the new quilts, bags, tablerunners, jackets, etc., on display.  Our teachers have been working overtime to bring you new designs and ideas.  Lots of new things on display, so don't delay!  Stop in or visit the website to see what's up! 

What do Quilting and Ice Fishing have in Common?

I was working on the January Table Topper at the cabin when I realized I did not have a way to feed the silver metallic thread thru my sewing machine. It was too large for the spool holder and I didn't have an additional spool holder. I explained my problem to Bob. He thought for just about a minute and then took my brand new ice fishing pole, put it in the ice fishing bucket pole holder and propped it up next to my sewing machine. We fed the thread thru the fishing line guides and I was ready to sew! I think the photo explains it all. Good thing I bought that new pole- I liked the color!
